Prep Roundup, Sept. 14: Bluffton dominates Beaufort Academy swim meet

SWIMMING

Beaufort Academy Invitational: Beaufort Academy hosted five schools on Thursday.

The Bluffton Bobcats dominated the boys and girls competitions and won 19 of 22 events.

The Beaufort Academy Eagles turned in 21 new state qualifying times: Ashley Taylor (100 and 200 free), Casey Kahn (200 IM and 100 back), Laura Roddey (50 and 500 free), Jennings Tumlin (50 free), Madeleine Gray (100 fly and 100 back), Finn Koppernaes (500 free and 100 breast), Dan Oelschlager (100 and 200 free), Preston Suber (200 free), Charles Sanford (200 free), Lawton Harper (200 free), John Mathai (200 free), Drummond Koppernaes (200 IM), Grant Hetherington (200 IM and 50 free) and Ben Hetherington (100 free).

Beaufort Academy travels to Bluffton on Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL

Battery Creek: The Dolphins split a pair of Region 6-AA matches, falling to Academic Magnet (25-9, 25-14) but defeating Burke (25-9, 25-13).

Sara Anderson led the way for Battery Creek with five aces, six kills and two blocks.

Tenielia Leak had a team-high eight kills to go along with three blocks and two aces. Vanessa Stanley added six aces and Tina Kwok had eight digs.

Battery Creek (6-5 overall, 2-1 region) plays a tri-match Tuesday at North Charleston.

First Baptist 3, Hilton Head Prep 0: The Dolphins (3-4) fell 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 to First Baptist.

Brooke Churchich led the Dolphins with 20 assists. Halie Parker pitched in with 10 kills and four aces, while Abby Miles added five kills and three aces and Jill Brunori had seven kills and five blocks.

The Dolphins play at Pinewood Prep at 4:30 p.m.Tuesday.
