The stormy weather that caused delays throughout the tournament forced the Northwood Seahawk Shootout in North Palm Beach, Fla., to be shortened from 54 holes to 45, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team finished in fourth place, led by freshman Cory Cottrell's sixth-place individual showing.

The Sand Sharks led after Monday's morning round but slipped into a tie for third after the second round. Their 45-hole team total of 750 was good for fourth, 21 shots behind Johnson & Wales, which claimed a three-stroke win over St. Thomas. Southeastern was third at 740.

Cottrell carded a 1-over-par 37 in his nine holes during Tuesday's final round, finishing at 4-over 182 in his first collegiate tournament. He was five shots off the winning score set by Southeastern's Isaac Spencer.

Junior Brian Langley was USCB's next finisher, tying for 16th with a 188, and senior Travis Cashion tied for 22nd at 190. Senior Tyler Jacobs (32nd, 194) and freshman Brad Curren (34th, 196) rounded out the lineup.

The Sand Sharks' next event is the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational at Sea Island's Retreat Course next Monday and Tuesday.
