A bomb threat left Friday evening prompted a four-hour evacuation at Jasper County public schools Monday morning.

Students at both the Hardeeville and Ridgeland campuses were evacuated at 8:30 a.m., soon after officials discovered a bomb threat left on the voice mail on the school district's main line. The threat was called in at about 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Students spent several hours on football fields while law enforcement personnel searched the schools.

Students at the Hardeeville campus returned to class by 11:45 a.m., according to Jasper County School District spokeswoman Shellie Murdaugh. Students at the Ridgeland campus returned about an hour later. Nothing suspicious was found, Murdaugh said.
