A second-quarter collapse helped pave the way for a lopsided loss for Beaufort Academy.

The Eagles (1-2 overall, 1-1 SCISAA 8-man Region 1) held a 7-6 lead after one quarter before things went wrong.

"We had a ton of misuces, mised assignments," Eagles coach Wheatley Alford said of the second quarter. "If it could've gone wrong in the second quarter, it sure did."

Faith Christian led 30-7 at halftime, and was up 36-13 going into the fourth.

"We were moving the ball fairly consistent, we would just break down once we moved across onto their side of the field," Alford said.

Reyn Robinson had four receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns, and he also had 13 carries for 83 yards to lead BA.

Gibson Achurch was 6 for 16 passing for 124 yards and the two scores to Robinson.

Eighth-grader Gavin Palmer led the Beaufort Academy defense with 10 tackles. Achurch had nine tackles and Bryan Strawn finished with eight tackles -- three for loss -- and a sack. Jack Dailey had six tackles and four passes defended.

Beaufort Academy plays at Cathedral Academy in North Charleston at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
