I am a 73-year-old man who has voted in every election for which I was eligible. My voting pattern has been evenly split between Democratic and Republican candidates.
With that experience and the current political climate in our country, I would like to suggest that every ballot in every election throughout the United States this fall include an additional "candidate" -- none of the above.
I am confident, given the dismally poor rating our members of Congress have earned, that none of the above would be the overwhelming victor in virtually every race.
Perhaps an overwhelming none-of-the-above vote might cause our supposedly dedicated officials to wake up and do their job rather than focusing their attention on their status, special interest groups, one-upmanship and myriad other distractions that seems to be their focus.
