A shot fired near the Waffle House on Boundary Street caused $800 worth of damage to a customer's car, according to the Beaufort Police Department.

The customer reported hearing two gunshots just after 4 a.m. Monday before discovering a bullet hole in his car.

Investigators learned a man had fired shots during an earlier fight among a group of people, according to Police Chief Matt Clancy. The suspect is believed to have driven off in a Dodge Charger with Virginia license plates.
