Laurence Manning 33, Hilton Head Prep 13
The Dolphins held a 6-0 lead after one quarter in their home opener, and had a defensive stand at the end of the second quarter to stay within a touchdown, but eventually a larger, deeper Laurence Manning squad prevailed.
"Their depth wore us down in the second half, but our kids never quit," Hilton Head Prep coach Kevin Wald said.
Hilton Head Prep (1-1) scored early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 26-13, but the visitors held off the Dolphins from there.
Nick Gibbons had a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown early in the second quarter to put Laurence Manning (3-0) ahead for good.
Charlie Wilmot had a pair of touchdown passes for Hilton Head Prep, a 40-yarder to Noah Sulek and 65-yarder to Zenon Parker.
Austin Baker led Hilton Head Prep's defense with 15 tackles. Wald also said Teron Dailey and Noah Sulek had strong games on defense.
Hilton Head Prep heads to Savannah next week, taking on Bible Baptist at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
