Charlie Humphries and Reyn Robinson combined for 306 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and the Eagles backed them up with strong defense to notch their first win of the season in SCISAA 8-man football.

Beaufort Academy (1-1) had no trouble, rolling out to a 33-0 lead by halftime. The defense capped off the scoring in the game with a safety.

"It was a great defensive effort all the way around," Beaufort Academy coach Wheatley Alford said. "We came out and had good practices all week and executed the way we are supposed to."

Humphries finished with 14 carries for 148 yards and two scores, while Robinson had 10 carries for 158 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Gibson Achurch added 39 rushing yards and a pair of TDs, and he also kicked five extra points. Gavin Palmer added a rushing touchdown.

"The ground game was working for us," Alford said. "We could run it well, we did not have to pass at all."

Achurch led the defense with 15 tackles and a sack. Bryan Strawn finished with 10 tackles and a sack, and Clay Melville had a 20-yard interception for a touchdown.

The Eagles are home again at 7:30 p.m. Friday to take on Faith Chrisitan.
