Woman gets 6 months for stealing from Hilton Head doctors

The former office manager of a Hilton Head Island medical practice was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing money from the business during a two-year period, according to a news release today from the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Jeanie Moore, 42, of Ridgeland pleaded guilty Thursday to breach of trust with fraudulent intent. She was sentenced to prison by Judge G. Thomas Cooper Jr., who ordered she serve five years of probation after her prison term and repay $61,771 in restitution.

While working as the office manager of Heritage Medical Center, Moore submitted false payroll information to the medical center's outside payroll service, resulting in her receiving unauthorized pay. She also submitted double invoices for cleaning services and pocketed the extra money.

The case was investigated by Master Sgt. Brian Baird of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and was prosecuted by assistant solicitor Francine Norz.
