A man has been accused of pistol-whipping a 61-year-old Hilton Head Island man during an attempted armed robbery Sunday morning, and authorities are searching for a second suspect wanted for punching the man's 75-year-old friend during the incident.

Joseph Miller Jr. was arrested late Tuesday on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a violent crime, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.

Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said Miller beat a 61-year-old man in a parked car on Diamondback Road with a pistol after demanding money.

The second suspect is wanted for punching a 75-year-old man who also was in the car. That suspect is described as a large black man in his 40s, 6-feet-2 inches tall, 220 pounds, wearing orange pants and a checkered shirt.
