Ribbon-cutting set Friday for island path

Published: August 29, 2012

A new multiuse path along the east side of William Hilton Parkway, from Gardner to Mathews drives, will be officially opened at a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Friday.

The Town of Hilton Head Island will host the ceremony at 430 William Hilton Parkway at the path in front of Stein Mart at Pineland Station.

Town and local chamber of commerce officials, cycling advocates, the project's contractor and representatives of surrounding businesses and of The Oaks, Sandalwood Terrace and Hilton Head Gardens will be on hand, according to a news release.

The $318,000 project was completed in June and paid for with money from a tax-increment finance district.
