ACHIEVEMENTS Students from across the state graduated from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities summer programs. Students are chosen to attend for one art area after an application and audition process that began in fall 2011. Open house will be held 4-6 p.m. today for all students and families. The school store grand opening will be 8-8:25 a.m. Friday. A representative from SC Bank & Trust will be available for parents and students to learn about the elementary banking program, "pink piggy banks."

JROTC will provide Color Guard for the State Board of Education meeting Sept. 12 in Columbia. All student SGA officers will have a retreat from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Ms. O'Nan's office. An open house will be Sept. 6.

HILTON HEAD PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Juniors Cole Gardocki, Tory Henrichs, Megan Kelley, Logan Mallett, Julia Nahman, Forest Richardson and Greg Warren were recently chosen to participate in Junior Leadership by the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. Head of Lower School Jane Inglis and Director of Communications Lainie Crose were selected to participate in Leadership
program by the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.
EVENTS Lower School Parents Night is 6 p.m. Thursday in the middle school gym. The school will present the third annual Coastal Clean Water Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 15 at Shelter Cover Harbour on Hilton Head Island. The free evening's festivities will include live music by The Chilly Willy Band and Domino Theory with Candace Woodson, as well as other professional and local high school bands. There will be an entertainment area for kids, local food vendors and educational booths for environmental groups. All local business and community groups whose continued success depends on a healthy marine environment are invited to participate with an informational booth at the event.
