Teri and Laurence Kopp

Teri Rini Powers and Laurence Kopp, both of Hilton Head Island, were married at noon Aug. 3, 2012, at Congregation Beth Yam with Rabbi Brad Bloom officiating.

The bride was given away by her son, Robert Rini of Hilton Head. Matron of honor was Sheri Farbstein of Hilton Head. The groom was accompanied down the aisle by his daughter, Karen DuTeil, and son-in-law and best man Jack DuTeil of Bristow, Va.

An original song for the couple was written and performed by Nick Rini, son of the bride, and the bride’s granddaughter, Gianna Rini, performed “Songbird” during the service.

Out-of-town guests included Michelle DuTeil, a University of Mary Washington student and granddaughter of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Rini and Gianna Rini of Chapel Hill, N.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Madeline of Fountain Inn; and Mr. and Mrs. Michael O’Brien of Boardman, Ohio.

The bride is a well-known pianist and vocalist known as Hilton Head’s “First Lady of Jazz.” The groom received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and worked as a nuclear physicist as well as a clarinetist and vocalist in the Washington, DC and local area. The couple will reside in Hilton Head.
