Bluffton's Steve Southern teamed up with Van Pernell of Hickory, N.C., to shoot 33-35--68 on Monday and win the Carolinas Golf Association's Senior Four-Ball Tournament at Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, N.C.
The pair won by a stroke over Todd Turner of West End, N.C., and Johnny Moore of Durham, N.C.
The tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, gross and net. Ninety percent of a player's course handicap is used to determine net scores.
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA handicap index at a CGA member club.

The Hilton Head Island Junior Golf Association Awards banquet was held Aug. 16 at the Moss Creek Golf Club. The following 2012 awards were presented:
EPPERSON ENJOYING eGOLF TOUR
Hilton Head Island's Chris Epperson is having a nice season on the eGolf Tour.
After shooting 13 under to tie for seventh earlier this month at the Grand Harbor Open in Ninety Six, Epperson is third on the money list with $71973 in earnings over 15 tournaments.
Epperson has made the cut in all 15 events in which he's played. He's finished third three times and has finished in the top 10 in 11 of 15 events, including the last six in a row.
IJGT HAS 3 LOCAL EVENTS ON FALL SCHEDULE
The International Junior Golf Tour will host three local events in September, including the Low Country Open to be held Sept. 1-2 at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, a Sept. 8-9 event at Hilton Head National in Bluffton and a Sept. 29-30 event at Shipyard Golf Club on Hilton Head Island.
Each event is a 36-hole, stroke-play format and ranked nationally by the AJGA, Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard.
