Marshal Dillon Band finds its country music niche

features@islandpacket.comAugust 22, 2012

Despite being in the Deep South, Hilton Head Island isn't exactly a hot bed for country music. Jimmy Buffett is more likely to get covered than Willie Nelson. But that's not to say a good country tune isn't appreciated.

The Marshal Dillon Band has found a niche locally, frequently playing nightspots both on the island and afar.

Band members have toured and played with some of the icons of country, such as Billy Ray Cyrus and Charlie Daniels.

Now, they've settled in the Lowcountry, most recently bringing in up-and-coming singer and guitarist Zack Stiltner.

"They're some of the most talented guys I've ever played with," the Bluffton resident said. "Even if someone requests a song they don't know, they pick it up and figure it out as they go along."

The Marshal Dillon Band plays 9:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Remy's on Hilton Head. Chris Stevers and Zack Stiltner play at 9 p.m. Aug. 29 at Remy's.
