Two charged after drug bust at mobile home in Bluffton

Two Bluffton residents remained in jail late Saturday after their arrest Friday evening on cocaine and weapons possession charges at their home at 13 Crestwood Ave.

Forty-two grams of cocaine, 32 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, about $500 in cash and four firearms were confiscated, according to Beaufort County Sheriff's Office officials.

Johanna Veroni Hernandez, 20, and Sergio Alexander Munez, 21, were arrested around 6 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.

The Beaufort County SWAT team, the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force and the Sheriff's Office canine unit were involved in the arrest.

The suspects were charged with:

  • Conspiracy to violate South Carolina drug laws

  • Cocaine trafficking

  • Possession of a knife or firearm during a violent crime

  • Cocaine possession with intent to distribute within half a mile of a school

  • Simple possession of marijuana

  • Munez was also charged with obliterating the serial number on a firearm and illegal possession of body armor.

    Bond for Hernandez was set for $80,620 while bond for Munez was set at $100,000, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center jail log.
