An 18-year-old St. Helena Island man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly robbed a man who later shot him.

Quinton Ventress is accused of stealing $2,500 in property from the home of Andrew Jerome Graham Jr. on June 26.

Graham, 38, is currently being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on an attempted murder charge after he shot Ventress in the ankle a month after the robbery, authorities say.

Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department said Thursday, "the shooting is believed have been retaliation-motivated in relation to this burglary."
