Truesdale should enjoy time with her family

Published: August 8, 2012

I wanted to take a moment from my day to thank Beaufort County superintendent Valerie Truesdale for all she has done for the entire district staff.

In 2005, I began my "easy second career" job at Hilton Head Island Elementary School for the Creative Arts after 31 years in finance on both coasts of the country. Little did I know how hard it would be to step back from a high-level management career to one of a support staff in the foreign land of education. After several years of adjustment and learning my position, I have grown to love "not being the boss" and have taken time to smell the roses.

Truesdale should enjoy every family moment she can in North Carolina and blaze the Grandma trail with just as much gusto as she has had as our superintendent. Blessings on her move north.
