A Lady's Island fire early Saturday left three people displaced and a home heavily damaged, according to the Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District and the American Red Cross.
The district responded to the fire at 7 Edding White Road on St. Helena Island at about 12:15 a.m. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to two bedrooms but most of the home had smoke damage, according to district spokesman Lee Levesque. Red Cross volunteers provided personal hygiene products and money to replace food and clothing for those displaced by the fire. The blaze is still under investigation but is thought to be accidental, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
