Federal Aviation Authority says crash investigation could take up to a year

Published: July 30, 2012

The investigation into a Georgia plane crash that killed a Bluffton man was expected to take weeks, but now the Federal Aviation Authority says it could take up to a year. Christopher William Bowen, 54, died in a gyroplane crash at an airshow near Wrens County, Ga. By all accounts, Bowen was an experienced flyer and the cause of the crash is a mystery. A preliminary FAA report offers some clues -- for example, Bowen's plane took a sharp dive to avoid hitting some power lines, one witness has reported.
