Beaufort police search for robbery suspect

Beaufort police are searching for a man who robbed the Wilderness Cove Apartments administrative office in Beaufort on Monday at gunpoint.

The robber got an application for an apartment from an employee at about 4 p.m., then returned about 20 minutes later with a semi-automatic pistol, according to a Beaufort Police Department news release. He stole jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash from the employee.

Beaufort police, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and the Port Royal Police Department were unable to find the man, who left the office on foot, according to the release.

He is described as a short, thin black man in his late 20s.
