They won the district championship, the state championship, and now the Hilton Head All-Stars are one victory from the 2012 Dixie Youth Baseball AA Region II Machine Pitch World Series championship.
The team of 12 boys from Hilton Head Island won twice on Monday in Hartselle, Ala., knocking off Oxford Black, 9-7, in the morning before downing Alabama champion Troy, 11-4, in the evening.
Since there are three teams left in the bracket with one loss, the teams randomly drew to see who would get a bye to the championship game today at 2:30 p.m. Hilton Head, the No. 1 seeded team from South Carolina, was the lucky team.
Troy will face Florida champion West Seminole at 11 a.m., with the winner advancing to face Hilton Head.
Team manager Adam Markowitz wouldn't single out any key performers, crediting all 12 players with the same effort.
Before the tournament, Markowitz said he liked his team's chances, pointing out that it had dominated the opposition in the state tournament. Not much has changed as he heads to the championship game.
"As we go through these tournaments, we just keep getting stronger and stronger and stronger," he said.
The Hilton Head Island All-Stars are Tate Miller, Juju Mlodzinski, James Layman, Kyle Markowitz, Tommy Stauffer, Grant Musselman, Brahm Py, Jack Boyce, Jace Blacshear, Austin Murray, Reymar Matos, Cal Bernstein.
Along with Markowitz, the coaches are Bryan Murray, Rod Musselman and Pete Bernstein.
