A man armed with a revolver robbed the Circle K gas station on Sea Island Parkway on Lady's Island at about 4: 15 a.m. Sunday and escaped before deputies arrived, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The man, described as a 6-foot-tall black male between 25 and 35 years old and weighing 220 pounds, held up a female cashier at gunpoint and made off with $200 in cash.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the amount of goods stolen during the armed robbery won't be known until the store conducts an inventory.

Deputies found no trace of the suspect when they arrived, according to Capt. T.W. Smith.
