Twelve Hilton Head Island boys have earned themselves a trip to Alabama later this month.
Hilton Head's all-stars captured the Dixie Youth Baseball AA Machine Pitch state championship Wednesday in Lexington, dodging raindrops while defeating Delmae, 14-3, in the final game.
The squad of 7- and 8-year-olds went 7-1 during the state tournament, earning an invitation to the Dixie Youth AA Region II Series. That tournament will be held July 20-24 in Hartselle, Ala.
Members of the Hilton Head AA all-star team are: Cal Bernstein, Jace Blackshear, Jack Boyce, James Layman, Kyle Markowitz, Reymar Matos, Tate Miller, JuJu Mlodzinski, Austin Murray, Grant Musselman, Brahm Py and Tommy Stauffer.
The team's coaches are manager Adam Markowitz, and assistants Pete Bernstein, Bryan Murray and Rod Musselman.
