57th Beaufort Water Festival Calendar of Events

All events take place at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort unless otherwise noted.

JULY 13

  • Festival art and craft market: noon-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Opening ceremony, featuring the Parris Island Marine Band and a fireworks show at dusk: 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Free

  • JULY 14

  • Festival art and craft market: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Raft race: 9 a.m., $185 for commercial businesses, $145 for military and nonprofit organizations

  • Bocce tournament: 9 a.m., $40 per two-person team

  • Sponsors' expo: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Waterfront Pavilion. Free

  • Children's toad fishing tournament: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Free for children 12 or younger. Bring your own rod, reel and tackle. Bait will be provided.

  • Coast Guard cutter tours: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free

  • Lowcountry Estuarium: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free

  • Shrimp boat tours: noon-4 p.m. Free.

  • Badminton tournament: 11 a.m., $30 a team

  • Gatorland Ski Show: 1:30-3:30 p.m., Beaufort River. Free.

  • Sailing regatta: noon-1 p.m., registration. Instructions available at registration table at Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club. 1 p.m., competitors' meeting. 2 p.m., warning for first race; other races to follow.

  • Dragon Boat exhibition: 4-5 p.m., Beaufort River, in front of Waterfront Park seawall. Free.

  • James Otto concert, with Chuck Courtenay: 8-11:30 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m. No strollers allowed. $20

  • JULY 15

  • Children's Day: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Shows, rides, games and prizes. Free

  • Festival art and craft market: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Boat bingo: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., local waters

  • Coast Guard cutter tours: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free

  • Lowcountry Estuarium: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Free

  • Shrimp boat tours: noon-4 p.m. Free

  • Gatorland Ski Show: 2-4 p.m., Beaufort River. Free

  • * Sailing regatta (continued): 2 p.m., warning for final race in front of Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club. Awards at 5 p.m. Dinner to follow.

  • Teen Dance, with DJ Jeff Taylor, for ages 13-17: 6-9 p.m. No entry after 8 p.m. and no re-entry. Valid ID required. Only clutch purses are allowed. No shuttle service. $10

  • JULY 16

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Croquet tournament: 9 a.m. $20 a person; $30 a person for both tournaments

  • Motown Monday, with Deas Guyz: 8-11 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m. $7. Free for active-duty military with valid military ID

  • JULY 17

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Croquet tournament (continued): 9 a.m.

  • Tropical Tuesday, with Tsunami Wave Riders: 8-11 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m. $12.

  • JULY 18

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • * Croquet tournament (continued): 9 a.m.

  • Talent Night, hosted by the Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority: 7-11 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. $10. Free with official 2012 Beaufort Water Festival T-shirt

  • JULY 19

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Croquet tournament (continued): 9 a.m.

  • Lowcountry Supper, with Broke Locals and Too Much Sylvia: 6-11 p.m.

  • JULY 20

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Bed race: 5 p.m., race on Bay Street between Harrington and Newcastle streets. Check in at 4:30 p.m. $25 per bed.

  • River Dance with Shark Radio and the Design: 8 p.m.-midnight. Gates open at 7 p.m. 18 or older, valid ID required. No strollers. $12

  • JULY 21

  • Festival art and craft market: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Water Festival grand parade: 10 a.m.-noon, downtown Beaufort. $25.

  • Coast Guard cutter tours: noon-4 p.m.

  • Lowcountry Estuarium: noon-4 p.m.

  • Shrimp boat tours: noon-4 p.m.

  • Cornhole tournament finals: 11:30 a.m. Double-elimination frame tournament to determine final three spots.

  • Air show: 1-4 p.m.

  • Commodore's Ball, with the Headliners: 8 p.m.-midnight. Gates open at 7 p.m. $10

  • JULY 22

  • Festival art and craft market: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Promenade at Waterfront Park

  • Lowcountry Estuarium: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

  • Nonprofit expo: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

  • Entertainment by Chris Jones: 1-3 p.m.

  • Blessing of the fleet and parade of boats: noon-2 p.m., Beaufort River. Free. Boats must register to be eligible for prizes. Applications due by noon July 21 at judges stand. $100 prizes for best decorated commercial boat, best decorated personal watercraft and judges' award.
