A man has been accused of following women around stores in Bluffton and touching them inappropriately, according a Bluffton Police Department news release today.
Javier Ramirez-Vaca, 38, of Bluffton has been charged with second-degree assault and battery.
On June 22, a woman reported to police that while she was shopping at Krogers Supermarket at 125 Towne Drive, a man grabbed her inappropriately.
Police retrieved the video from store surveillance, which showed that the man followed her into the store and later grabbed her from behind. The man made it appear as if he had bumped into her while he was grabbing her, the release said.
On Tuesday, another woman reported that the same man followed her around Publix supermarket. She remembered him from a similar incident that occurred about two months ago, when she reported that he grabbed her inappropriately while she was shopping at Target in Bluffton.
The Bluffton Police Department believes other women may have been assaulted by him, and they should call its Crime Tip Line at 843-706-4560.
Ramirez-Vaca is in the Beaufort County Detention Center today where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
