Jasper County man arrested, 435 marijuana plants seized

Authorities seized more than 400 marijuana plants Thursday and arrested a Jasper County man suspected of growing them on land belonging to a hunting club in Tillman.

Investigators from the Beaufort/Jasper Multi-Agency Drug Task Force and Jasper County Sheriff's Office raided the home of Kermit Wade Donahue, 58, and found 47 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, a rifle and materials believed to be used in the cultivation of marijuana, according to a news release.

Donahue was charged with one count of manufacturing marijuana, one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and one count of entering another's land to cultivate marijuana.

Investigators also seized 435 marijuana plants Donahue is accused of growing at the Green Swamp Hunting Club on 11 B&C Landing Road, the release said.

The investigation is continuing, the release said.
