Life in music: Chris Jones is just one man -- despite what you hear. At any point on stage he could be playing an acoustic guitar, a double electric guitar he built himself, a trumpet, a harmonica or a ukulele.
His recording equipment allows him to loop his guitar live, essentially allowing him to be his own backing band.
Or he could strip everything down and play fingerstyle guitar, a technique where the strings are plucked with the thumb and fingers instead of strummed with a pick.
"I always thought if there were three of me we might make a decent band," he said.
Jones started playing guitar at age 10.
A few years later he was playing in the honky-tonks across his hometown of Branchville. He moved to the Beaufort area about nine years ago.
He's known for his covers for tourist friendly crowds, but he has recently released his first CD of fingerstyle guitar playing.
