A 36-year-old Green Pond man is accused of raping an ex-girlfriend at her home in Grays Hill, then forcing her to go to his home in Colleton County where he sexually assaulted her a second time, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Lawson is charged with criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping. His bond is set at $50,000, according to the county jail log. He is being held for prosecution.

The alleged crimes occurred June 13. The woman reported them to the Sheriff's Office the following morning. According to an incident report, her upper arm was bruised, but she had no other visible injuries.

The investigation continues, according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
