Recreation Briefs, June 27: Hilton Head wins Dixie Youth AA district title

HILTON HEAD ALL-STARS WIN DIXIE YOUTH AA DISTRICT

The Hilton Head Dixie Youth AA (ages 6-8) all-star team won the District 8 tournament this weekend at Crossings Park on Hilton Head Island. The team went 5-0 over the weekend to secure a spot in the state tournament, which will be held July 7-10 in Lexington.

Members of the Hilton Head all-star team are: Jack Boyce, Brahm Py, Cal Bernstein, Austin Murray, Jace Blackshear, Reymar Matos, Kyle Markowitz, Juju Mlodzinski, Tate Miller, Grant Musselman, Tommy Stauffer and James Layman.

The team is coached by Adam Markowitz with assistants Brian Murray, Rod Musselman and Pete Bernstein.

HURRICANES WIN BOYS OF SUMMER CLASSIC

The HHBA Hurricanes took first place in the 11-and-under division of the second annual Boys of Summer Classic USSSA baseball tournament this weekend in Bluffton. The tournament was held June 23-24 at the Oscar Frazier fields, with five teams participating in the Hurricanes' division.

The Hurricanes and Beaufort Beast both went 3-1, with the Hurricanes scoring the most runs of any team in the division. Nathanael Anderson hit three home runs and the Michael Santorum had one homer for the Hurricanes.

Green Machine defeated Lowcountry Landsharks in the championship game of the 12-and-under division, and the Carolina Baseball Club Blue Sox went undefeated en route to the 13-and-under title.
