Rowland Alston, who hosted his last episode of ETV's "Making It Grow!" on Tuesday night, was surprised during the live broadcast when Sen. Ronnie Cromer, R-Newberry, and State Rep. David Weeks, D-Sumter, presented him with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor in the State of South Carolina. Alston is retiring after 42 years of public service as a Clemson extension agent, and 37 years in broadcasting on ETV.
