Jewelry stolen from for-sale homes on Hilton Head

Published: June 22, 2012

Jewelry has been stolen from several homes for sale on Hilton Head Island between April and June 22, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Details on the exact dates of the thefts and the value of the jewelry stolen were unavailable Friday.

Sgt. Robin McIntosh said the jewelry was stolen from homes on Wedgefield Drive, Colonial Drive, Knollwood Drive, Oyster Bay Place and Sea Robin Court, and was taken from "concealed locations."

"We are not talking about items that were left out in the open or (in) a dresser or (on) a table or something," McIntosh said. "Somebody would have had to search for these items and had the time to do so."

None of the stolen jewelry has been recovered, according to authorities.

McIntosh said investigators have contacted jewelers and pawn shops in South Carolina, Georgia and parts of Florida in an attempt to find the missing items.

No suspects were identified Friday.
