Ridgeland school, Boys & Girls Club vandalized

Published: June 11, 2012

Three juveniles have been charged with breaking into and vandalizing the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club and an alternative school that shares the building, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

They broke into the high school at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Ridgeland Police Department. The juveniles discharged several fire extinguishers, filling the halls with fog that set off a fire alarm.

Firefighters who responded also found that the Boys & Girls Club had vending machines and furniture in several rooms overturned or destroyed, according to a news release. Drinks and food from the storage room, freezers and refrigerators also were strewn about.

On Sunday night, the same juveniles broke into the school again, causing more damage and stealing two school cars, the release said. The cars were found Monday with about $6,000 in damages.
