The 35 students of Hilton Head Christian Academy's Class of 2012 graduated Saturday in a ceremony at the school.
Total amount of scholarship money earned by the graduates: More than $1.8 million
Speakers: Each graduate gave a brief speech, concluding with the salutatorian and valedictorian.
Valedictorian: Lauren Ashley Davis earned a 5.07grade-point average and plans to study nursing at Clemson University. She hopes to pursue a career as a nurse anesthetist or nurse practitioner.
Salutatorian: Kelly Ann Humes earned a 5.03 grade-point average and plans to study physical therapy at Furman University. She hopes to study abroad while in college.
From the principal: "The legacy the Class of 2012 has left includes 35 individuals who work well together as a group. They have helped each of us understand the importance of reaching out to the local community in a realistic and lasting way. They have been examples for the underclassmen in how to encourage one another and serve one another.
