Babet Villena-Alvarez has earned the Carolina Trustee Professorship Award, which has been given to University of South Carolina faculty members for more than a decade.

Villena-Alvarez is the chair of the Humanities and Fine Arts Department at USCB. She serves on eight councils and committees on campus, in the community and in her profession, and led the internal giving campaign for the USCB Family Fund last year.

Faculty at all seven campuses of the USC system are eligible for the award. USCB professors have won four other times since 2001.
