Published: May 11, 2012

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed today that Caroline Gibson of Sun City Hilton Head was found dead Wednesday in a car parked at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.

The GBI found no trauma during the autopsy, and the cause of death is pending the results of toxicology tests, according to a news release today from Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.

Her body was found with her identification and belongings in her car, which had been parked at the airport since April 27, a day after the 40-year-old woman was reported missing by her parents with whom she lived in Sun City.

A person who parked in the economy parking section on the second deck reported the body to police Wednesday afternoon.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Gibson since her parents reported her missing and found no trace of her in searches by ground, water and air in Beaufort and Jasper counties.
