BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

EVENTS

  • Girls' tennis pre-fall training will begin at 3 p.m. Monday and lasts two weeks.

  • The SIC meets Thursday.

  • The school's Greg Jones Lead Block Foundation Football Camp will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon May 19. The camp is free for children ages 10 to 18, but is limited to 150 participants. Students will learn fundamentals, form and technique. Details: leadblockfoundation.com

  • The school's youth football camp for first- through eighth-graders will be June 11 through 13. The camp costs $40. Details: Jim Shuman, 843-522-5500

  • BEAUFORT ACADEMY

    EVENTS

  • Fifth-graders will go to STARBASE at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort all week.

  • Swim lessons for second-graders end Wednesday. Swim lessons for third-graders end Thursday.

  • The pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will host a Hoe Down on Thursday to honor their parents.

  • First- and second-grade students will host a Mother's Day Tea at 1 p.m. Friday in the library.

  • Saturday is the Smash and Bash Community Tennis Tournament at the school's tennis courts. There are two divisions: adult mixed doubles and the junior division. Entry is $40 a person and includes a ticket for the 4:30 p.m. cookout. Registration is due today. Tickets to the cookout at $5 and require advance reservations.     EVENTS

  • The final SIC meeting is at 5:30-6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the media center.

  • The Beaufort High School Dance Ensemble presents its annual Spring Dance Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Arts Center at the school. The show features student choreography and on Friday, seniors will be recognized. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Details: 843-322-2153

  • Calling all Beaufort and Battery Creek high school male alumni: a flag football game will be held at 7 p.m. May 25. Any former student who would like to help in this fundraising effort for the yearbook staffs at both schools is invited to participate. Details: 843-322-2000, 843-322-5580

  • The eighth-grade social will be 5-8 p.m. May 18.

  • Spring band and chorus performances will be at 6 p.m. May 24.

  • Second-graders Jack Bliley and Jack Shandlin placed first and sixth respectively in their age divisions at the Legends Golf Tournament.

  • Seventh-grader Jessive Elkins will read two of her poems at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston in May.

  • EVENTS

  • Any remaining openings for the 2012-13 school year, including spots declined after last week's lottery, will be filled at 5 p.m. Thursday.

  • Spirit night at Chick-fil-A is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday. The fundraiser has raised more then $1,500 for the school so far this year.

  • The school's annual Family Event is noon-3 p.m. Sunday. The event features bounce houses, water slides, dunk booths and fair food.

  • HELPING HANDS

  • First-grade students collected more than 150 pairs of shoes for people in need through their Soles4Souls service learning project.

  • The school will have a PASS pep rally at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

  • ENRICHMENT

  • Stephen Peters and Angela Peters, the national founders of the Gentlemen's and Ladies Clubs, spoke to the club members on April 30. They spoke to the students about the importance of their dreams and aspirations and challenged them to read this summer.

  • REUNIONS/ALUMNI

  • The Beaufort High School Class of 1958 Tidal Wave Breakfast Club meetings are at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Golden Corral, 122 Robert Smalls Parkway. Details: 843-525-1822, 843-524-8903

  • The Beaufort High School Class of 1972's 40th reunion will consist of two events on June 29 and 30. From 6 to 11 p.m. June 29, alumni will gather at Darrah Hall at the Penn Center on St. Helena Island.
