From staff reports

The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's golf team will be one of 28 teams competing for a national title May 15-18 at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn., as the 11th-ranked Sand Sharks were granted an at-large berth in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships on Thursday.

This will be the Sand Sharks' third consecutive trip to nationals. They finished seventh in 2010 and 18th last year.

First-year coach Lindy LaBauve's team was the sixth of 13 at-large selections, joining 15 automatic qualifiers who earned their bids by winning their conference or independent/unaffiliated group tournaments.

The Sand Sharks are one of four Sun Conference schools in the field, along with No. 5 Embry-Riddle, No. 6 Northwood and No. 8 SCAD Savannah, the Sun Conference tournament champion.
