Published: May 1, 2012

COLUMBIA -- Newly retired college basketball coach Bobby Cremins and RBC Heritage executive director Steve Wilmot -- both Hilton Head Island residents -- are being honored by the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame.

Cremins will receive the Bobby Richardson Sportsmanship award during enshrinement ceremonies on May 14. Cremins stepped down as head coach at College of Charleston in March.

Others being honored are South Carolina State sports information director Bill Hamilton and former South Carolina defensive lineman Ken Wheat.

Wheat will receive the inaugural Dom Fusci Leadership award. It's named for the former Gamecock football standout who died in February.

The Hall of Fame inductees include former Augusta National chairman Hootie Johnson and ex-NFL players Stephen Davis and Duce Staley.
