A Rose Hill Plantation security guard has been charged with voyeurism after allegedly hiding a cellphone camera in a toilet-paper roll and filming female employees in the bathroom.

Jeremy Mack, 31, of Bluffton was arrested Friday, more than a month after deputies began investigating complaints from several female employees at the community's guardhouse, Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

In addition to two counts of voyeurism, he is charged with one count of indecent conduct. All are felony charges, McIntosh said.

Mack is being held at the jail pending a bond hearing, McIntosh said.

The investigation began in March after a female employee reported finding a cellphone hidden inside a toilet paper roll in the guardhouse bathroom, McIntosh said.

Mack used his cellphone's video camera function "on several occasions" to record two female security officers in the bathroom "without their knowledge or consent," the release said.

A third female security guard reported that Mack exposed himself to her while the two were working at the gatehouse, McIntosh said.

Elizabeth Blythe, general manager at Rose Hill, declined to comment on the arrest, saying she had "no information to offer."

Security at the gated community is provided by Norred Security, an Atlanta-based contractor, Blythe said. She referred questions about Mack's employment status to that firm.

A field supervisor who answered the phone at Norred's headquarters after hours Friday said nobody was available to comment.
