USC Beaufort senior Adriana Saavedra and sophomore Kendra Collins earned All-Sun Conference honors, and the Sand Sharks women's golf team finished in a tie for third at the Sun Conference Championship on Saturday at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
SCAD Savannah claimed the team title with a score of 612, three shots ahead of Northwood. The Sand Sharks and Embry-Riddle tied for third at 628.
Saavedra and Collins were among 10 players selected to the all-conference team based on their play in conference events throughout the season.
Collins led USCB this weekend, shooting 77-79--156 to tie for sixth place. Freshman Tori DeGroodt (T-8th, 157) and junior Phyllis Langley (T-8th, 157) also cracked the top 10. Junior Kelli Nakano (T-17th, 160) and Saavedra (20th, 166) rounded out the lineup.
The 10th-ranked Sand Sharks now await the release of the teams that will qualify for the NAIA National Championships from May 15-18 at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
SCAD's Nikki Stewart and Amanda Workman were named the conference player and coach of the year, respectively.
Embry-Riddle's Heather Wiquist, a Bluffton High School graduate, finished tied for 17th with a 76-84--159.
