Blackheart Spiced Rum, 93 Proof, United States, $18, 750 ml

This is an extremely well made and delicious dark rum for the price. The nose starts with layers of sweet vanilla and warm spices with hints of alcohol. These flavors roll onto the tongue perfectly and are complemented with flavors of nutmeg, molasses, toffee and a sweet smokiness. The 93 proof gives this rum enough backbone to show its power without overtaking the flavors. Terrific with cola or mixed into a colada, it is exceptional.

2010 Landmark Overlook Chardonnay, California, $25

If you are in the market for a rich, creamy chardonnay then look no further than Landmark Chardonnay. The wine starts with a nose full of vanilla and ripe pears, which flow seamlessly into the mouth with the first sip. There are also waves of vanilla, ripe citrus, stone fruit and melon. The finish has a nice grassy taste and minerality to it, along with a silky ripe citrus creaminess. This is a terrific wine for rich seafood dishes or roasted or grilled poultry or duck. Well worth every cent, if not more.
