Pettersson leads heading into final round

Carl Pettersson's charge past second-round leader Colt Knost might have lost momentum on the back nine.

But with an 8-foot birdie putt on the signature 18th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links, he got to sleep on a one-shot advantage heading into today's final round of the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.

The Swede is 12 under after a 5-under-par 66 Saturday that seemed to hold even more promise after he birdied five of his first six holes and wiped out Knost's two-shot, second-round lead.

Pettersson's cushion got as large as three strokes, but Knost pulled even again at one point and finished the day with a 2-under 69.

The two will be paired again for today's final round as Knost seeks his first PGA Tour victory and Pettersson his fifth.

Familiar faces will be in pursuit, however.

Former Masters champion Zach Johnson is third at 8 under after a round of 66. Two-time former Heritage winner Boo Weekley (70) is fourth, and defending champ Brandt Snedeker (69) is in a three-way tie for fifth at 6 under.

Final-round play begins at 8:25 a.m. today. Television coverage on The Golf Channel is from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and CBS will broadcast the final round from 3 p.m. until the end of play.
