Jasper County and state law enforcement officials were busy gathering evidence Friday night from the scene of an apparent double homicide near Ridgeland.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office was called to Tutens Landing Road where a resident found two men shot to death in a pickup truck, said county Coroner Martin Sauls.

The victims were described only as two white men. Their identities were not released Friday, pending notification of next of kin, Sauls said.

Sauls said investigators believe the two men died Friday morning but were waiting on crime scene technicians from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division to arrive before collecting more evidence and examining the victims.
