Kristy Cook took a perfect game into the seventh inning and finished with a one-hitter as USC Beaufort won the first game 6-0, but the Sand Sharks couldn't muster enough offense in the nightcap, losing 2-1 to split a doubleheader Tuesday at Columbia College.
The Koalas took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, and Mariaha Sanborn's solo home run in the seventh cut the lead in half, but the Sand Sharks (27-7) couldn't push across the tying run.
USCB is off until April 18, when it travels to Thomas (Ga.) for a non-conference doubleheader.
