W. Pat and Paula Kirkland of Bluffton announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Nicole Kirkland of Bluffton, to Nathan Walker Jones of Hilton Head Island, the son of Thom and Billie Jones of Hilton Head.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 20, 2012.

The bride graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2005. She graduated from the Technical College of the Lowcountry with a Surgical Technology degree in 2008. She is currently working at a physical therapy office part-time while attending nursing school.

The groom-elect graduated from the College of Charleston with degrees in Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management. He is currently the manager of Broad Creek Marina.
