Six contestants have practiced talents, rehearsed dance steps and picked out their favorite dresses.

But before they take the stage and compete for the Beaufort Beauties crown Saturday, they might want to shave off their 5 o'clock shadows.

The 3rd annual drag beauty pageant and fundraiser starts at 7:30 p.m. at The Shed on Paris Avenue in Port Royal. The event was scheduled for St. Peter's Church but moved because The Shed is larger and can hold about 400 people.

Donning heels and hitting the stage will be:

  • Crystal Balls -- Worth Liipfert, Griffith, Saddler & Sharp Law Offices.

  • Helen on Heels -- Karl Wells, 104.9 The Surf.

  • Bobalina & the Bobettes -- Bob Cunningham, Merry Maids.

  • Selma House -- Will McCullough, Lowcountry Real Estate.

  • Hot Hot Chocolate -- Hank Herring, Green Herring Art Gallery.

  • Michelle de Taindalot -- Michael McFee, Beaufort City Council.

  • One contestant, Palmetto Bluff tennis pro Warren Florence, had to withdraw because of work, according to event organizer Androula Weiland.

They will compete in talent, question-and-answer and evening-gown categories. Judges will be presenting sponsor Holly Zahn, Municipal Court Judge Ned Tupper, state Rep. Shannon Erickson, city of Beaufort councilman Mike Sutton and attorney Jared Newman.

About 150 tickets have been sold as of Thursday, and contestants had raised a combined $1,955 through online donation sites. Each has a goal of $1,000, and Liipfert was closest with $755.

Proceeds from the event benefit Main Street Beaufort, USA; Friends of Caroline Hospice, the Lions Club of Beaufort and Thumbs Up, Inc.
