Overall medalist Taylor Simonsen shot a 36 to lead Beaufort High School over West Ashley and Hanahan in a nine-hole event at Shadow Moss Golf Club on Monday.

It was the second tournament in a row that Simonsen finished first overall.

Rounding out the scorers for the Eagles were Josh Fickes (40), Tommy Earl (41) and Patrick Watson (51).

Beaufort High next plays Wednesday at Ashley Ridge.

GOLF

Hilton Head Prep, Hilton Head Christian: The Dolphins came out on top of a match also featuring Hilton Head Christian, Porter-Gaud and Pinewood Prep, finishing with a four-man total of 297.

The Eagles finished third with a 309 total.

Leading the way for Hilton Head Prep were co-medalists Tyler Williams and Phillip Loeb with matching 2-under-par 70s. Woody Woodward shot a 71 and Russell Freed had 86.

J.D. Lehman paced Hilton Head Christian with a 74. Bryson Nimmer shot 77, Will Miles carded a 78 and Kyle Weaver shot 81.

Both teams are back in action today as Hilton Head Christian hosts a meet at Palmetto Hall.

BASEBALL

Beaufort High 13, Summerville 5: The Eagles tallied 18 hits, led by Mark Jones, who went 2 for 3 with a two-run home run and five RBIs.

Weber Pike was 4 for 4 with four RBIs, Alex Silon went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Carson Gregory and David Tilton were both 3 for 4.

Austin Willis-Greene earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing one earned run. Beaufort High (7-3, 3-1) plays next at 7 Wednesday night at Fort Dorchester.

Berkeley 4, Battery Creek 1: Dustin Spurlock and Thomas Smith had two hits apiece and Shane Goude drove in the lone run in the Dolphins' loss.

Shane Dixon went the distance for Battery Creek, striking out three.

The Dolphins (4-9) next travel to play Hilton Head High on Wednesday.

Branchville 6, Whale Branch 4: Danny Mackowski went seven innings in the Warriors' loss, allowing three earned runs.

Whale Branch (3-4) visits Hardeeville on Wednesday.

    Hilton Head High 4, Wheaton, Ill. 3, PK: Ashley Green had two goals and Megan Farrell also scored to force the game to penalty kicks, where the Seahawks prevailed.

    Splitting time in net for the Seahawks were Lauryn Bush, Emma Stanton and Kelsey Fitzhugh.

    Hilton Head High next hosts Battery Creek on Thursday.

    Battery Creek 8, Whale Branch 0: Cali Caulder had three goals and four assists to lead the Dolphina. Mandi Mahan and Maddy Dearsman each added two goals, while Kimberly Vigil had a goal and three assists.

    The trio of Caroline Vido, Samantha Colleran and Stephanie Colleran combined for the shutout in goal. Vido retruned to play the entire first half after missing two weeks with an injury.

    Battery Creek (4-2) plays next at 7 Thursday night at Hilton Head High.

    Berkeley 27, Battery Creek 2: Makala Bernard and Mariah Sanchez had base hits in the Dolphins' loss.

    Bernard was the starting pitcher, with Autumn Gravel making her mound debut in relief.

    The Dolphins travel to Hilton Head High on Wednesday.

    Summerville 10, Beaufort High 0: Six errors led to nine unearned runs for the Green Wave. Jenny Mullins went six innings, surrendering eight hits and striking out four.

    Summerville scored five unearned in the first two innings and four in the final inning. Mullins, Michelle Brown, Maddie Berry, Jessica Bennett and Regina Bolden had hits for the Eagles (5-7, 1-2), who host Fort Dorchester at 7 Wednesday night.

    Bluffton 4, Cane Bay 2: Courtney Smith went the distance, striking out 11 for the Bobcats, and Mikyla Houghlan went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored.

    Whitney Morrell went 1 for 3, and Alexia Cortez was 1 for 2 for Bluffton (7-0), which plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berkeley.

    TENNIS

    Bluffton 4, Savannah Country Day 2: The Bobcats won three singles matches and the lone doubles contest to edge the visitors.

    Bluffton (7-1) travels Wednesday to Beaufort High.
