BASEBALL

Hilton Head High 11, Cane Bay 4, 11 innings: Coach Chris Wells won his 250th career game as Hilton Head Island High won on the road.

The Seahawks broke loose in the 11th, with the big blow coming on a three-run home run from Adam Orischak.

Relief pitcher Matt Clark entered in the seventh and escaped a bases-loaded jam before going the rest of the way to pick up the win. He improved to 3-0.

Orischak finished with four RBIs, and Michael Haven had a hit and two RBIs for the Seahawks, who totaled 12 hits.

Hilton Head High (5-1) stayed perfect in the region at 2-0.

The Seahawks next host Berkeley on Wednesday.

Battery Creek 6, Bluffton 2: A five-run fifth inning sparked the Dolphins to the road win.

Aaron Salinas went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Shane Goude chipped in three hits and Shane Dixon had two hits and two RBIs to propel Battery Creek.

Starting pitcher Dixon earned the win, going 6 1-3 innings. He allowed two runs and four hits, walked two and struck out seven. Goude got the final two outs in relief.

Ryan Cherry took the loss for Bluffton.

Whale Branch 19, Allendale-Fairfax 3, 5 innings: Danny Makowski threw complete-game 1-hitter and had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (2-2).

Ty Fields had a three-run triple, and Timmy Campbell added two doubles and three RBIs for Whale Branch, which travels to Bethune-Bowman to play at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Beaufort High 7, Colleton County 1: Starting pitcher Carson Gregory went four innings, striking out five, to pick up the win for the Eagles.

Relievers Mitchell Stewart and Joel Fickes completed Beaufort High's home victory.

The Eagles' David Tilton and Mark Jones each went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Beaufort High (4-3, 1-1) next visits Ashley Ridge on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

Beaufort High 4, Colleton County 2: Winning pitcher Jennie Mullens went the distance, striking our eight, to lead the Eagles in their region opener.

Beaufort High's Michelle Brown had two hits.

The eagles next host Ashley Ridge on Wednesday.

Bluffton 20, Battery Creek 0, 5 innings: Courtney Smith (5-0) struck out 10 and Morgannne Parker and Whitney Morrell each went 4 for 4 with four RBIs as the Bobcats (5-0) rolled.

Brittany Windish was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple for Bluffton, which plays at Lake Marion at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Tori Hill and Autumn Gravel had hits for Battery Creek.

Hilton Head High 4, Cane Bay 0: Whitney Halley pitched seven innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven, to earn the win for the Seahawks.

Haley Moore went 2 for 2 with a double for Hilton Head High. Kayla Roberts had a single and two RBIs.

Hilton Head High (4-0, 2-0) welcomes Berkeley on Wednesday.

JV: Bluffton 16, Battery Creek 2

BOYS TENNIS

Bluffton 4, Hilton Head Prep 2: Bluffton won three of their four points on tiebreakers. The Bobcats host Hilton Head at 4 p.m. today.

Battery Creek 4, Woodlands 0: Cali Caulder, Kimberly Digil, Illyona Johnston and Jasmine Wallace had goals in the Dolphins' road win.

Samanatha Coloeran made 10 saves in the Battery Creek net.

Battery Creek (3-1) opens region play today at Berkeley.

BOYS SOCCER

Battery Creek 4, Woodlands 0: goalkeeper Miguel Mejia earned his second shutout of season for the Dolphins.

Oscar Tierrablanca scored three goals and assisted on the fourth to spark the Dolphins on offense. Luca Basuino also scored.

Battery Creek (3-1-1) hosts Berkeley today.

GOLF

Hilton Head Christian: A day after the final round of the Panther Invitational was rained out, the Eagles opened play at the Magnolia Invitational in Sumter.

Hilton Head Christian led after the first day with a three-man total of 219. Second-place Fort Dorchester shot 227.

Hilton Head Christian's Bryson Nimmer had the day's low round with a 70. J.D. Lehman shot a 73, and Will Miles carded a 76.

The final 18 holes are scheduled for today.
