Battery Creek High School

EVENTS

  • HELPING HANDS

  • The SADD Club is collecting gift card donations for tornado victims in Indiana. Gift cards to Staples, Lowe's, Home Depot, Kroger, JC Penney's, Sears, Target, Walmart and Kohl's are needed, or donations can be made through the end of March. Details: Ms. Grooms, 843-322-5582

  • Beaufort Academy

    EVENTS

  • First- through fourth-graders are going to see Celtic Crossroads on March 12 at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.

  • Pre-kindergarten through seventh grade school pictures will be taken March 14.

  • The regional upper school science fair at Parris Island is March 14.

  • Spring sports pictures will be taken after school March 14.

  • The regional middle school science fair at Parris Island is March 15.

  • The Shamrock Shakedown is March 17 at Q on Bay. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. There will be a live band, silent auction, drinks and barbecue. Details: www.beaufortacademy.org

  • The school's annual yard sale will be March 24.

  • ENRICHMENT

  • The school's literary magazine, "Seasons of the Pen," is making a comeback. Students should send poetry or black-and-white photos to Mrs. Dinkins by March 13 to be published.

  • Beaufort Elementary School

  • There is a parent meeting at 6 p.m. March 13 for families who will be new to the school next year.

  • Beaufort Middle School

    EVENTS

  • Eighth-grade students will participate in "Choices" on March 14 and 15. In the program, sponsored by the Sea Island Rotary and the State Department of Education, community members share their stories.

  • The Poetry Alive troupe from Asheville will give presentations to each grade March 15.

  • There will be a math night showcase at 6 p.m. March 15.

  • Eighth-graders will take the PASS writing test March 20 and 21.

  • The SIC meets at 5:30 p.m. March 26 in the media center.

  • Broad River Elementary School

    EVENTS

  • Students will perform the musical "Positive" at 6:30 p.m. March 15 in the multipurpose room. The program is full of music and narrations that encourage thinking good thoughts.

  • There is a parent meeting at 6 p.m. March 29 for families new to the school next school year.

  • Lady's Island Elementary School

    EVENTS

  • The Fripp Island Club will present "Birds of Prey" at 1 p.m. March 13.

  • Science Fair awards will be given March 15.

  • The SIC meets at 4 p.m. March 15.

  • Chick-fil-A night is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 22.

  • Child Find will take place March 26-30.

  • The community is invited to the fourth grade's presentation of "The Adventures of Lewis and Clark" at 2 p.m. March 29. The musical journey will tell the story of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark as they explored the Louisiana Purchase.

  • OTHER

  • Read Across the USA logs are due March 13.

  • Mossy Oaks Elementary School

    EVENTS

  • Yearbook orders are due March 12. Yearbooks cost $20.

  • Report cards will be sent home March 30.

  • The PTO is planning a yard sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. April 21 at the school. A table may be purchased for $10. Any unsold items will be donated to CAPA.

  • Riverview Charter School

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Second-grader Samuel Marrero and sixth-grader Chris Hoogenboom won state titles at the S.C. Chess Association State Scholastic Championships in Columbia on Feb. 25. Congrats to the whole Rook Ray chess team for their good showing at the tournament.

  • EVENTS

  • Class photos will be taken March 13, and individual photos are optional. Payments must be received by March 12.

  • St. Peter Catholic School

    EVENTS

  • There will be no school March 16 or March 23.

  • Eighth-graders will hold the Stations of the Cross at 9 a.m. March 20 and at 5:30 p.m. March 23 in the church. All are invited.

  • The Beaufort High School Class of 1972's 40th reunion will consist of events June 29 and 30. From 6-11 p.m. June 29, alumni will gather at Darrah Hall at Penn Center on St. Helena Island.
